|Arrangements are in place between insurers and credit hire companies for the provision of replacement vehicles to innocent third parties, notably the Credit Hire Protocol (General Terms of Agreement) which is a voluntary non-binding arrangement. The links on this page give access to the protocol documentation, details of subscribers etc.|
|Documentation||Copies of the Credit Hire Protocol and application form for new credit hire subscribers.|
|Insurers||Subscribing insurers and contact details.|
|Subscriber CHOs (Updated 30.3.2017)||Subscribing credit hire companies and contact details.|
Important Note re Subscriber CHOs:
The listing that was previously on the website has been completely reviewed and updated. CHOs have now been excluded where, for example, they have left the GTA, gone into administration, not paid their GTA subscription. The contact names, emails and telephone numbers are for the nominated person to handle GTA communications; these are not the same people for dispute resolution (a database is being finalised) but they will be aware of their company’s contact points.
The maximum rates for hires commencing on or after 1st July 2014 are:
New maximum car hire settlement rates with effect from 1st July 2014 (updated 25.5.2016)
The individual rates for CHOs are not listed as individual CHOs may set their rates at any level up to and including the maximum for all groups. CHOs are encouraged to use the car, taxi, private hire vehicle, motorcycle and commercial vehicle group letters/numbers in submitting invoices.
The historic rates and groups for individual First Tier credit hire subscribers will continue to be accessible until further notice. The details may be useful in checking old invoices but rates are not included for individual CHOs for cars after 1.04.06 or commercial vehicles and taxis/private hire after 14.08.06 or motorcycle rates after 1.03.07 as new standard maximum rates applied from those dates until 1 June 2008 when all the maximum rates were uplifted by 3.5%. The historic rates that applied are:

New maximum car hire settlement rates w.e.f 1 July 2011 Updated 2nd May 2013

Operation of the GTA
The GTA Technical committee has agreed some Frequently Asked Questions and Answers on the operation of the GTA. These cover issues that have been raised by subscribers. They will be added to as new questions and answers are agreed. It is hoped that they will cover some of the main issues that can delay the processing of claims and thus speed up settlements.
Disputes on vehicle groups: Where there is any doubt or dispute on the group of the CHO hire vehicle that applies e.g. for cars that do not appear as examples in the groups or commercial vehicles, then you can contact GTAvehicles@abi.org.uk for allocation to the appropriate group. This service is available to GTA subscribers only. You should use 'Vehicle group request' as the email subject heading, and please note that only requests using this form can be processed.
The grouping process is only to be used to ascertain the group of the CHO's hire vehicle, not the claimant's pre-accident vehicle. Enquiries are usually considered by a Vehicle Group Sub-committee once/twice a month so there may be a delay in providing clarification.
